December
What joy to be able to share with you through this newsletter this month. There is a song we like to sing this particular time year: It’s the Most
Wonderful Time of the Year. I believe that to be so because it is a wonder-ful time of the year. But sometimes you want to sing, It’s the Most Busiest Time of the Year. I know most of you will agree with me the Christmas
Season, in so many ways, brings happiness and also sadness, But I know that no one, no matter happy or sad, can deny, that Jesus is the Reason for this Wonderful Season. Please take note of all the special events taking place this month at Fairview. Mrs. Rhonda, our church secretary, has all that is taking place laid out so you can keep up and be a part of all that is happening.
One of the great opportunities we have as a church is to give and put
the Lord first in all that we do. So with that being said, December 23rd,
on Sunday morning, we will be receiving the Lottie Moon Christmas Offer-ing. This offering is received every year and it goes to support our Southern
Baptist Missionaries who are serving with the International Mission Board (IMB). These missionaries have been called by God to take the Gospel
to the foreign lands across the seas. They have packed up family, left jobs, friends, church families, and we could go on and on, to serve the Lord.
We have the great and awesome privilege to take part in this offering
so that more and more people in the far away lands and in the darkest corners of the earth can hear the Gospel and be saved like us. As we read in God’s Word, we are to go into all the world and take the Gospel so men, women, boys, and girls can hear, believe, and be saved. (Matthew 20:18-20). If we continue to put Him first and do as He commands us in Scripture to do, He will continue to bless and meet our needs and the needs here at Fairview Baptist Church. Again, God’s Word promises us in Matthew 6:33; Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. THAT’S A PROMISE!!
